1 month today

Jacob is one month old today! He's growing and is now fitting into some 0-3 mo clothes! But most are still too big. I really didn't think he'd be wearing newborn clothes this long.

Have you ever tried to paint baby hands and feet and then try to put their prints on anything? I recommend it being a 2-3 person job. I took on this project by myself today before bathtime. The shirt is a little messy, but it's cute!

Today we venture out to Illinois. We are going to the Cubs first playoff game of '08. Nate is STOKED! I'm excited to go to Wrigley as well, just wish the Cardinals were playing. Oh well, they can't win them all, and I guess if the Cubs don't have the chance to win the World Series for another 100 years, I'll be ok! :) I did tell Nate that this would be his one and only chance to make me wear a cubs shirt - preferably I'd like to wear a shirt that says "I'd rather be a Wrigley" There was a girl with a shirt like this when we were at the game in June. I loved it and can't find it anywhere - even on the tons of websites that i've looked on! It was green and written in fancy handwriting was kind of vintage looking. It was also a womens cut shirt. I'm not a fan of mens t-shirts, they fit weird. I have looked for children's XL before and those don't do too bad!

Hopefully Jacob travels well. He hasn't slept great this morning, hopefully that means he'll sleep good this afternoon. His little tummy is hungry, so I better go take care of him!

I'll post more pictures when we get back!

Check out what I captured today!

I can't believe what cute pictures I captured this morning!!! When we woke up this morning, I went to change Jacobs diaper and he was in a really good mood! I was in the middle of changing his clothes and he was so much fun I couldn't put clothes on him yet - he's not a major fan of putting clothes on. I had to quick grab my camera and fresh batteries and began shooting! I also believe that the smiles below are his first 'real' on his own smiles!!! I'm so happy I captured them on camera! There were certainly NOT just gas smiles!

So the very bottom picture was taken just after feeding him after his diaper change - I didn't have time to put clothes on him before he decided he was hungry, and NOW! So I wrapped him in a blanket and we fixed a bottle. He fell asleep after his feeding and this is how I layed him...too cute!

Have a fantastic weekend, it certainly does not feel like the end of September. The temps are in the mid 80's and is GORGEOUS. Tomorrow our church is throwing Jacob a shower, then we have a husker bash to attend. We know what apparel Jacob will be wearing tomorrow eve!

Blessings to you,
Mary Beth, Nate & Jacob

2 lbs

2 lbs of what?

I *wish* I could have bought 2 lbs (or more) of apples with my students when they took a field trip to the apple orchard yesterday...one of my favorite K field trips and I missed out on it...Jacob is worth it though!

I did NOT fry 2 lbs of ground beef today to make frozen dinners to make at a later date.

2 lbs of rain we got today???

We could probably rake up 2 lbs (or more) of grass after Nate mows...hopefully today...it REALLY needs it! But first we have to pick up all the sticks that have fallen the last week or two from the windy days we have had recently.

I can't think of anything else off the wall right now, so I guess I'll just have to tell you!

Jacob has gained 2 lbs since birth! So, yes, he has grown and gained some weight to him. I was visiting my friend Carmen today after I had to take the ever wonderful school picture this morning. We were talking about how much he has grown...and I commented on wondering what he weighs now...she whipped out her baby scale and found out for real! He is at 8 lbs 15 oz.

No pictures today, perhaps a video if I can get it working! We'll give it a whirl.

Have a phenomenal day wherever you are and whatever you are doing. This IS the day that the Lord has made, so rejoice, and be GLAD in it!

Three weeks old

Jacob is three weeks old this weekend. He is growing and doing great. His little stomach issues seem to be getting better, we made a few adjustments and those seem to be doing the trick. He sleeps great at night, getting up around 2-3 and 5-6, then typically Jacob & Mary Beth go back to sleep until 9ish. It's a good thing Jacob enjoys sleeping in too!

I guess we don't have a lot to write about tonight. We have been pretty busy, laundry has increased and just regular things to take care of.

This afternoon all three of us took naps! It was super necessary and felt great! Jacob fell asleep on someones belly...can you tell whose it was?
We had some friends come over to see Jacob this past week, here's a picture of them holding our fat cat Louie - who really is taking any attention he can get currently! I think he feels a little jealous.

The next couple of pictures were taken today after church. He is SO kissable and we love him so incredibly much! It's amazing that God has chosen us to be Jacobs family.

Here are a few flowers from my garden - late bloomers! The yellow one is awesome, I have no clue what kind of flower this is...

Have a great week, thanks for stopping in!!

Love,

a little this, a little that

Jacob had his first big outing Tuesday night. We made a trip to Sioux City. We needed new formula, diapers... ya know! We decided to eat at a sit down place because we have eaten so much fast food lately. Jacob slept the entire time we were in Texas Roadhouse. By they way...who knew it'd take so much work to cook a meal at night. Yeah, that rarely happens now, and if it does, it's because it was planned at 9 in the morning!

This afternoon we get the pleasure of taking our friend Cella to her radiation treatment. I am excited to hear how her first day back teaching went today. Please pray for healing for Cella.

We have a few more pictures to put on the blog, so you'll have to come back to visit because I'm not going to put them up this morning/afternoon. If you're lucky, tonight! Sheldon has their city wide garage sales this weekend. It's 10:30, Jacob is finally fed and changed. I have showered, but not done anything else, my hair needs dryed and something needs done to it. So before it gets to be lunch time I better head out the door and see what kind of deals I can get on baby boy things! We'll see how long Jacob tolerates it...he does like being outside though!

Thanks for checking in with us! Have a great day, it's gorgeous here, totally feels like summer is hanging on for one last hurrah? I am not ready for the official setting in of Fall on Monday. Perhaps other than the changing of colors happening. I just do not like being cold, the snow is beautiful. Iowa really isn't the place to be in winter...especially after last years winter that hung on for a LONG TIME. Summer...hang on!!! Don't go away too quickly!

here they are...

more pictures you say?

We have heard from several 'faithful' blog checkers that we NEED to put up more pictures! ok ok ok...I have some to put on the computer from the camera and I guess we can take more pictures of our precious baby!

Jacob is laying on my legs right now sleeping. He's very cute, but of course in order for me to take a picture I have to get up and walk across the room, and surely he won't stay sleeping in the same position when I jostle him around.

He is sleeping in longer shifts at night, instead of getting up around the 1:30/2:00 time he is making it until about 4 am. Then he got up at 7 and we were still tired, so Jacob and I went back to sleep until 10:30! I am so glad he appreciates sleeping in as much as I do!

Ok, just kidding, he's a wake now...
bye for now, pictures and perhaps a video to come later!
