Saturday!

Saturdays are great!  It was such a relaxing, comfortable day.  Here's a bit of a recap.

This morning Jacob helped me make scrambled eggs for breakfast - his request.  He liked to stir the eggs, put the pepper in and of course eat them!

We thought it would be fun to put his puppy costume on him to get him use to it.  He wore it for awhile around the house.  I think his favorite part is the tongue and tail.

And what would a sunny fall afternoon be without raking up a little leaf pile and charging through it!? 

This is some monkey see, monkey do.  Nate was hanging from this limb in the tree and of course Jacob wanted his turn!  Nate lifted him up and Jacob loved it!

We ended the day going out to supper together and are now enjoying a relaxing evening playing hide-and-seek, building train tracks and rolling around!

fall fun

Yesterday we ventured to an apple orchard and had a great time together as a family of 3!  We enjoyed tasting the many varieties and Jacob loved that part.  Apples are his favorite food right now, we eat 1-2 apples a day in our family right now!  He even fell asleep on the way home with a half eaten apple in hand.

The apple orchard was quite larger than what we thought!  We took a horse drawn hay ride way out to a portion of the orchard and this was a view we saw.  Gorgeous.

It was great how full these trees were and how they hung down just at his level.  He loved it when he would pull one off and others would fall off the tree at the same time! 

Sometimes the apples wouldn't want to come off though - which allowed me to quick snap a picture!

It's amazing at this point in the year we are wearing short sleeves and referring to being hot!  I love it!  Fall has been pleasantly surprising.  The apples in the fridge are just begging to be turned into applesauce, apple pies, apple crisps and dipped in carmel for fresh eating!  I can't wait for my house to be filled with the aroma of all those things too.

We spent our 3rd Friday night in a row at a football game.  Who knew that this past one would be the warmest one of all!  Unfortunately with the warm temps came the mosquitoes.  Bummer, once again we are itching and scratching and hoping for a frost to kill them.  Jacob LOVES going to the football games.  It's to the point that I cannot tell him we are going until after he wakes from his nap otherwise he won't nap.  He has learned how to punt the ball.  He even found an empty toilet paper tube, stood it up, and placed his football on it so he could kick it.  He's already asked to go to another football game, we'll have to see what the weather is like - it's looking good in the extended forecast - but it's a fun activity to do together as a family.

So after a week of officially potty training, I would say Jacob is well on his way.  I'm so amazed at how this process has gone.  I felt so inadequate and unprepared to conquer this adventure, but it's going well at this point.  He has stayed dry at naps and occassionally overnight.  He even stayed dry on our entire outing from 8-3 yesterday!  Then about 3:30 this morning Jacob got out of bed, stood by the bathroom door (it was shut) and said he needed to go - and waited patiently til Nate kicked me out of bed to help him and for me to get my brain functioning.  And then went back to bed wtihout hassle!  Wow!  Then he woke up for the day and requested to go again and this time did #1 and #2!  He started #2 on Thursday morning and has done fairly well with that.  This has put me at ease for our upcoming trip to CO.  Way to go Jacob!

Pumpkins!

If Fall is going to be like last week was and what the 10 day forecast is, it can stay.  60's-70's, sunshine, light breeze.  The beauty of fall is all around and soon we will be laboring hard outside because of it.  Can someone quick come cut my trees down so I don't have to rake up a trailer full of leaves.  Seriously, a huge trailer - our neighbors were awesome and helped out a ton.  Anyway, that's about a month away before we have to be concerned about that. 

Earlier this week we ventured out in the evening to a pumpkin patch.  Jacob had a blast!  He found a wheel barrow and knew just what to do!

We found animal land next, these little kittens were VERY playful!

The goat was hungry and Jacob enjoyed feeding it.

It was a great night to go to the pumpkin patch, we may just have to go again this fall - we had so much fun. 

We are looking forward to a potential trip to an apple orchard in the near future.  Delicious apple pie and the aroma of applesauce cooking sounds fantastic.

Blind sided!

So last Saturday, Jacob decided after he peed in the potty that it was time to wear big boy underwear!  This was not something I had brought up with him for about a week - when we bought the sweet lightning mcqueen underwear.  In the morning, he sat on the potty, went, and on the way back to his room he said, I wanna wear big boy underwear!  I was shocked!  WHAT!?  Really?!  I'm not ready for this!  Nate looks at me in complete disbelief and says....uh...what do we do?  I said, we have to let him wear them!  And so the potty training begins!  He wore them for about an hour at a time last weekend, then after nap all week.  Yesterday he wore them for a couple hours at a time, and today, he went 6 hours staying dry!  With constant trips to the bathroom, persistence and patience (trying any way!) I am pretty amazed at how this morning/early afternoon went. 

Let me tell you, he's one happy boy in those underwear!  Even if they slide off his little bottom ;)  I was able to find some smaller, non-lightning ones - which was a problem for a day or two cause he ONLY wanted to wear lightning.  He also says, don't wanna get lightning wet....and usually when he says that that is our cue to get him to the bathroom.  It's funny how fast we jump up and run him off to the bathroom with those words. 

We'll see how this goes and hope for the best!
